Reconstruction of a historical crane system
After many years of dereliction, the reactivation of an old steel hall had been intended. The riveted steel hall which is more than 70 years old was housing two gantry cranes with five tons of cargo load each, built in the sixties.
The old cranes were meant to be replaced by new ones of load 20 tons lifting placed on the same aged crane runway and on the same foundation bodies.
The existing foundations could be proved by consideration of the compaction that had been taking place meanwhile. The crane runway rails have been improved with intermediate support and its current suitability has been validated through metallurgical examination.
Continuous monitoring ensures the safe usage of the improved crane way, which was successful revised for the requirements of the present.
